Types of Fishing Guides We Offer in Seward
The waters accessible from Seward support multiple sportfish species across distinct seasonal windows. We offer guided trips targeting each of them, with methods selected based on prevailing conditions and client preferences.
Salmon fishing. Alaska is defined by its salmon runs, and the Kenai Peninsula provides exceptional opportunities. We target multiple species including sockeye, silver, and pink salmon depending on the time of year. Sockeye runs reach peak abundance in July. Silvers arrive in late August and remain active through September. Pink salmon return during even-numbered years and offer consistent action suitable for anglers of all ages.
Kenai River fishing. The Kenai River ranks among the most productive fisheries in Alaska. We operate drift boat trips on the upper and middle river sections, covering miles of water and accessing locations unavailable to bank anglers. The Kenai supports trophy rainbow trout, substantial salmon runs, and quality Dolly Varden fishing throughout the season.
Rainbow trout fishing. The Kenai River sustains a world-class rainbow trout population. Fish exceeding 30 inches are landed with regularity each season. Fall fishing proves particularly productive, as trout feed aggressively on salmon eggs following the spawning runs. We maintain strict catch and release practices for rainbow trout to preserve this fishery.
Dolly Varden char fishing. Dolly Varden are available from spring through fall and frequently occupy the same water as rainbow trout. They respond to various presentations and provide excellent table fare for guests who wish to retain fish.
Silver salmon fishing. Silvers, also known as coho, are recognized for aggressive strikes and acrobatic fights. They readily take flies, spinners, and plugs. Late August through September constitutes the primary season, and we target them on both river and stream systems.
Ice fishing. During winter months, we guide ice fishing trips on Kenai Peninsula lakes. Rainbow trout and Dolly Varden remain active beneath the ice and provide quality sport. This offers a distinctive way to experience Alaska fishing during the off-season.
