Kenai River Fishing Guide
Jason Lesmeister
Jason Lesmeister moved to Alaska at the age of 21 to be a fishing and hunting guide. 30 years later he’s still there and is one of the busiest guides on the Kenai Peninsula.
Red (sockeye) salmon, silver (coho) salmon, and other salmon species are all migrating up the Kenai River in Alaska at certain periods during the season. Find out when the “run” is on for salmon fishing or when the Kenai rainbow trout are biting and book an Alaskan fishing trip with Jason’s Guide Service. All gear is provided for anglers to catch some of the hardest fighting and best eating fish that live in Alaska. While many fish make the run up the river to spawn, it takes a certain skill to locate the perfect spot and use the right technique to ensure success.
Cooper Landing Fishing Guide
Your exceptional Cooper Landing fishing guide, Jason Lesmeister, has had a love for fishing and hunting for as long as he can remember. He brought his passion and experience for these exhilarating activities to Alaska to become a premier fishing and hunting guide when he was 21. 20+ years later he is one of the busiest guides in Cooper Landing and he is living his best life by getting to share the wonders of Alaskan fishing and hunting with others.
Jason calls Cooper Landing his home and the Kenai Peninsula his “office” where he runs his “business”. When Jason is not sharing his beautiful home and office and their bounties with others as a guide, he calls the peninsula his playground. Living, working, and playing year-round in this beautiful place gives him a distinct understanding of fish and wildlife behavior and habits that other guides in the area do not have.
Jason’s belief and commitment to protecting Alaska’s beautiful, natural resources is two-fold, it is his livelihood and his love. He runs an eco-friendly guide service and strives to make as small a footprint as possible when he takes fellow fishermen and hunters out. He wants people now and for generations to come to be able to continue to enjoy the majestic scenery and wildlife that he now can’t imagine living without.
With Jason’s Guide Service, char and salmon can be caught for retention or sport, and we practice catch and release for rainbow trout and Dolly Varden.
One of Jason’s philosophies about fishing and guiding is to control the controllable. This means that he knows that being comfortable and set up for success while on a guided trip, means the difference between a fantastic and a horrible trip. To help ensure a fantastic trip, he provides his customers with Gore-Tex breathable waders, G-Loomis fly and spinning rods, and the best lines money can buy. He only gives his customers the top-notch gear that he wants and uses himself.
