WHAT TO EXPECT
Weather is always a factor when fishing on the Kenai River in Alaska so check the forecast but realize that conditions can change suddenly so be prepared to dress appropriately for many different and varying conditions. You must have rain gear, sunscreen and layered clothing.
There will be ample opportunity for photographs on your Alaskan fishing trip so make sure you have a good camera along that can withstand the elements.
When it comes to Kenai river fishing trout and sockeye salmon opens on June 11. Rainbow trout and Dolly Varden are prolific all year long. Anglers that are seeking world-class trophy rainbow trout should concentrate their efforts during the autumn months.
The sockeye salmon are at peak abundance from mid-July through the first week of August.
Silver salmon fishing is best from the third week of August through the end of October.
Anglers must provide their own fishing license, lunch or snacks and beverages. Arrangements can be made to provide food and drink for additional cost.
The Kenai River fishing guides will provide the boat and all fishing gear. Guides will also clean fish and provide all the necessary expertise for a quality trip tailored to the angler’s needs.
All trips are conducted out of a custom-built 19-foot drift boat. All rods and reels are G.Loomis, Sage, Lamson and Shimano. Anglers are welcome to bring their own rods, reels and tackle if they prefer.
