Why Choose Jason’s Guide Service as my Sockeye Salmon Fishing Guide in Cooper Landing, AK?
Three Decades on the Kenai’s Sockeye Water
Owner and head guide Jason Lesmeister calls Cooper Landing home and has guided the Upper and Middle Kenai for more than 33 years. He is on the water 100-plus days a year, which keeps him current on where the reds are stacking and when the next pulse is due. National Geographic featured him in The Savage Line.
Sockeye are just one of the salmon runs Jason guides. Silvers and pinks round out the summer, and our salmon fishing guide in Cooper Landing, AK covers those trips as well. Joe Pote also guides for the service and brings a strong fly-fishing background and a degree from Virginia Tech.
What Every Sockeye Trip Includes
We provide the rods, reels, weighted rigging, and breathable waders, and we clean and bag your catch before you leave. Sockeye are a retention fishery, so a good day often means a cooler of firm red fillets to take home or ship. Reds freeze and smoke well, and many guests plan a trip specifically to stock the freezer for the year. Guests regularly land bright reds and the occasional trophy rainbow, and those catches fill our braggin’ board. Because we run a drift boat and release all native rainbow trout and Dolly Varden, our trips stay low-impact on the water we fish every day.
